The look and feel of Teatulia's branding was inspired by the work of Satyajit Ray, the Bengali filmmaker and artist often considered to be one of the leading creative lights of the 20th century.
Born in Calcutta, Ray started out in advertising and publishing, where he designed and illustrated books. His striking use of colour and bold interpretations of Bengali script feel as fresh today as they did in the early 1950s.
After the release of his breakthrough movie, the 1955 classic Pather Panchali, Ray's attention turned to filmmaking, but he never lost his fascination with graphic design and typography. Led by Sakiko Kobayashi, a team at Here Design overhauled Teatulia's branding in 2018, drawing on Ray's early work for our signature pattern and bold use of Bengali lettering.
